Destino Sur Hotel & Spa is one of the largest hotels in the small town of El Chalten, Patagonia. When you arrive at the hotel, it feels like you are on a ski holiday. The design and architecture reminded me of ski resorts in Norway.

Destino Sur Hotel & Spa is a 5-star hotel not far from restaurants and bars. It is only a 5-minute walk to the entrance to the most popular hikes in El Chalten, such as Cerro Torre and the Fitz Roy. The Hotel has 36 elegant alpine-style rooms. All their amenities are on ground level, breakfast and dinner area, reception, bar, and spa. The Destino Sur also offers massages for a fairly low price.

The Rooms:

The rooms at Destino Sur are very spacious, what I liked the most was the heating in the bathroom floors. Also heating in general so even when it was very cold outside, it was always really good to go back to the room.

The rooms have an alpine 90’s style. But it still gives you a luxury feeling with the equipped bathroom, where you get slippers, robes, plenty of towels, and good products. Also comb, toothpaste, and toothbrush if you need them.

The rooms are beautiful but simple. My favorite was the bed with luxurious linens and bathroom.

The Spa

At Destino Sur, you can use the spa as much as you want. They have a corner where you can use a couple of gym equipment, and there is a main pool and a Jacuzzi. The spa also has a sauna where you can heal sore muscles after long hikes in the mountains. The spa also has a massage room, but you will have to book an appointment, but the price is really good.

The Bar and Restaurant

The hotel has included a full breakfast. The breakfast has a good variety of different cakes, bread, fruit, and drinks, such as coffee, smoothies, and milk. They also offer dairy-free alternatives.

The restaurant has a fireplace where you can socialize with other people and then go to the bar that is located on the other side, where you can get one of your favorite drinks.

Bike rentals

The hotel offers bike rentals included in your stay. And in El Chalten, you would want to use a bicycle. It is fun and convenient to get around town and also to use it to get to the entrance of several hikes.

The service at the hotel is great and the staff is always there to help with anything you need. The staff recommends what to do around the area, which is very helpful.

Destino Sur Hotel & Spa is perfect for adventurous people. It is one of the more expensive hotels in El Chalten, but it is worth it as you get breakfast, spa, and bike rentals included.

I would recommend this place if you have the budget and want high comfort, a pool and sauna, a good breakfast, and being close to the best hiking trails in El Chalten.
